Electric Racing Car in Formula Student
Clear River Racing is a non-profit student project at Karlstad University with the aim of developing and designing a racing car every year, which is put to the test against other universities from around the world.
The project started 16 years ago and is now run by about 40 students from various programs, ranging from teaching to engineering at the university. Over the course of a year, students have the opportunity to use their theoretical and practical knowledge to create an electric car that will compete on a Formula 1 track and be rated on a variety of factors. The goal is to have a finished electric car ready to compete in Formula Student, an international competition for students from all over the world.
Clear River Racing – students at Karlstad University
A team of students at Karlstad University participates in the Clear River Racing project voluntarily, which means they work beyond their regular study time. It requires many late nights and weekends for planning, construction, and manufacturing of the car. Despite the high commitment, the students are dedicated and strive for the project to develop and be successful year after year. Five years ago, the team reached a major milestone by taking third place out of 100 competing universities at the Silverstone competition in the UK.
During the project, students gain valuable knowledge in several areas, ranging from manufacturing technology and engineering to vehicle design and business contacts. This is where future industry leaders are created, and Clear River Racing is the bridge between education and the workforce.
We at EG Electronics want to support and be a part of this, and we are proud sponsors of this year’s edition of Clear River Racing. We look forward to following the team’s development and journey towards Silverstone. Now let’s keep our fingers crossed for the team to make it back to the podium.
